Name: Mie Chisaki [Chisaki literally translates into "A Thousand Blossoms"] Age: 116, appears 20/21 Birthday: Unknown [see History] Height: 5'3" Weight: 98 lbs.
Division: 2nd or 9th Position: I never liked choosing these. You decide?
Physical Appearance:
Focusing on her eyes, from a first glance one can tell that her irises are unique and unusual. After all, what sort of Japanese shinigami has gray eyes? On top of their cinder, ash-like color, what’s even odder is that they’re colored in gradients. The outer rings of her eyes are a silvery color, darkening as they ring inwards towards the pupil until her eye color appears almost black. Although the main frames of her retinas are formed delicately and perfectly, from a first glance, strangers tend to shy away from her due to their strange color. This oftentimes frustrates Chisaki, so it’s advisable that you don’t judge her by her appearance alone.
Her hair is basically the typical shinigami hair: sleek, lush, and ebony. Most of the time, Chisaki ties it back in whatever way she feels. Therefore, her overall facial structure is almost as random as her personality is. When she’s feeling indifferent, Chisaki will either have her hair down, in a bun, or in a ponytail. She rarely wears pigtails but braids and curling is a personal favorite of hers.
Chisaki’s overall body frame is the stereotype female shinigami: slim and flexible. However, just because someone could call her ‘petite?because of her small height and weight, she has all the curves in the right places. There’s nothing more important to her about her appearance than keeping her weight and size at the right, desired place. In fact, she’ll train for days in order to keep an ideal diet. This, added with the right accessories to her shinigami outfit, makes Chisaki quite a popular member of the 9th division.
Last but not least, her general facial complexion. Just like the rest of her body, her face is unblemished and smooth. However, in the dark, her skin tends to have an odd, pale glow to it. In daylight, her skin tone is a healthy peach color, matching her fellow division members, yet in the night time, she appears ghostly and pale. Most of the time, Chisaki’s face will be gentle and inviting, but when she’s alone, her expression is uncertain and perplexed. Although she’ll never display it openly in public, Chisaki is always hesitant of what she does; she constantly wonders if her actions are for the better. Aside from her private sessions where her facial expression ranges from emotionless to worried, she’s usually much more cheerful in public.
She takes pride in the small modifications she’s made to her clothing, often using the more modern version of the shihakusho to her advantage. Although some people tease her about being different than others and making the fourth division healers go out of their way in order for her to simply have a uniform, Chisaki just shrugs it away. She had no choice; after all, because if she wore the normal outfit, she wouldn’t have been able to tie it shut, thus revealing her chest to the entire world. Because of her paranoia, Chisaku always has a tendency to believe that she’s fat, thus the extreme slenderness of her already-small body.
As usual, she wears the standard black shihakusho. Because she was so much smaller than her fellow division members, a few fourth division shinigami had to create a new version of uniform in order to fit her. Her shihakusho is a more feminine, stylish version and her friends are oftentimes jealous of the fact that she was ‘special. When addressed with this topic, however, she is extremely modest and shrugs off any jealousy and envy.
Along with the small, more feminine outfit, Chisaki has very few modifications. The most prominent personalization is the grayish-tan, instead of white, obi tied firmly around her slim waist. The ribbon itself is relatively simple ?made from silk and given to her from the moment she was born. Surprisingly, the smooth sash is still shiny and still appears brand new. A smaller, more personal item: a silver bracelet studded with fire obsidian, a rare and valuable gem. Although she has no recollection of how she came upon this accessory, she cherishes it along with her sash. More than once, some of her backstabbing friends have tried to steal her bracelet; thus Chisaki will protect it with her life (she has no idea why even to this day). Perhaps she feels it’s spiritually connected to her, or maybe she thinks she can sell it for a huge profit in the future. Whichever it is, she makes sure that her friends need direct permission in order to even touch the bracelet.
She wears no armor as of yet, usually feeling that they’ll drag her down. Chisaki despises the feel of metal or leather on her skin aside from the times when it’s necessary. Fortunately, most of the other shinigami don’t wear armor either (save for the oddball here and there) and so in this case, she doesn’t stand out too much.
Personality:
Chisaki is definitely flawed, perhaps more so than her fellow shinigami friends. She has numerous mental disorders, just a few of them being bipolar disease, anorexia, and paranoia. Because of her cynical and mistrusting attitude, she rarely accepts anyone into her close circle, and when she does, Chisaki becomes extremely clingy. After becoming attached to someone, she becomes extremely sensitive towards his or her remarks and can be easily injured. Once hurt, Chisaki will lock herself away for an indefinite amount of time until rescued by her friends. Those who aren’t her best friends are considered just ‘friends? or more accurately, acquaintances.
Due to the growing view of thinness for beauty, eating disorders are a serious problem for her. She hardly ever eats, and her few friends have long since stopped attempting to make her eat. However, she drinks huge amounts of tea and other such common beverages (sometimes including sake). The only time she eats is a day before she is about to do harsh training or during an important mission. Because of anorexia, she has a very frail, timid demeanor ?don’t be fooled by this. When provoked, Chisaki can become harsh and cold. In fact, one of her favorite personal sayings is “Sarcasm is my second language.? Passionate for justice and order, Chisaki will do anything to obey the rules. This can be an unfortunate characteristic, or it can be an advantage to her status. If pressured hard enough, Chisaki will turn on her own friends when given the right reasons. Although it’s very unlikely, she can break through her mechanical obedience and follow her own thoughts. Despite this, her desire to impress her superiors overrules most of her reasoning.
Although it seems that she is a very unsecure character, Chisaki is actually quite outgoing with her companions. She can handle group conversations extremely well, but when faced with one-on-one interactions, Chisaki becomes a stuttering, indecisive wreck. Her usually-cheerful attitude oftentimes attracts others to her, especially when they want advice or someone to unload to. Chisaki has a strange attraction to listening to other peoples?problems - no matter how awkward it makes her feel. Her knowledge of others?situations makes her more understanding to his or her personality. Thus, others find themselves more at ease when interacting with her.
Like any other human, however, Chisaki is not always her bouncy self. In fact, when she’s alone (or with someone else, depending on his or her personality), Chisaki seldom shows any emotion. Sure, she smiles out in public, but when on her own, it takes a lot to make her laugh or frown. When alone, she tends to seek out privacy and peaceful, elevated spots to meditate and sort out her thoughts. However, once dragged into a group of people, Chisaki abandons any thoughts of seclusion and searches for more conversations.
Coming from a partially Chinese family, she is extremely modest and rarely accepts any form of compliment, especially from a superior. Most of the time she’ll deny it, but if you look closely, you can see that her unhealthily low self-esteem is boosted by that much of a fraction.
Unfortunately (or luckily?) her family had a huge influence on her thoughts. Chisaki is extremely proud and unwilling to accept failure from her equals. However, if a captain or lieutenant corrects her, she takes it to heart, oftentimes over thinking about it until she is positively convinced that he or she meant it in a negative way (meaning disappointment).
Fighting Style:
As for her fighting styles, Chisaki was never one to do a lot of talking in battle. She prefers to get it over with the least amount of effort possible. Unfortunately, she is very unsure of herself, oftentimes hesitating before launching an attack. This is usually her downfall, and may also be a reason why she has not been promoted to a higher ranking. However, if given direct order from a superior, Chisaki will carry out the order with out any second thought. Thus, her Captain's attitude play an important role in her fighting tactics.
In private battles, she is straightforward and simple, using her speed to her advantage. Because of both her small size and eating disability, she lacks strength. Fortunately, her high level in Kido makes up for the absent muscle. Unlike others at her age, she's advanced in the art of Shunpo, or flash steps. This also adds to her already-high advantage in speed.

Zanpakutou Name: Mizunezumi [literally "Water Mouse"]
Inner World:
As for her inner world, she resides in a cave on a secluded island in the middle of a wide, stretching blue ocean with no land other than the island in sight. The water itself ranges from peaceful to violent depending on Mizunezumi and/or Chisaki's mood. However, due to both of their mixed emotions, the seawater has a wide variety of wave sizes here and there. No matter how stormy the seas are, the island itself is physically unaffected by erosion.
Mizunezumi's lair is basically a dark, small cave, and she is usually dwelling deep within the dark depths. Although Chisaki has never been allowed deeper than the entrance, she knows that the inside is littered with moss and grass to suit her Zanpakuto's bedding choice. What her soul slayer's spirit eats is still a mystery to her, but she has concluded that the giant rodent eats palm tree leaves from time to time whenever the rare hunger pangs strike.
The island itself is littered with tattered palm trees - the only objects affected by the climate and unpredictable weather. Most of them are missing chunks of bark and leaves here and there, but the golden, smooth sand is completely devoid of debris. There is no other visible life on the island (save Mizunezumi), including birds or insects.
Zanpakutou Spirit:
Mizunezumi is obviously a giant mouse-like creature, although Chisaki has never exactly decided what species she is. Unlike her master, Mizunezumi is basically a leader. She is wise, thoughtful, caring, and does not hesitate to give out orders should the time arise. One could say that she is the leadership that Chisaki lacks. In fact, Chisaki views her as a more motherly figure than a zanpakuto spirit, and this is perhaps the reason why the two work together so easily. To be honest, she looks upon Chisaki as a daughter, and the two look out for each other like a two-way street. If anything should happen to the opposite, the other would be completely devastated and horror-struck. It's obvious that the two are very close.
In appearance, Mizunezumi is a huge rodent, but despite her size, she may possibly be the most elegant mouse ever. Unlike most caramel-colored mice, Mizunezumi's fur is a variation of blues and turquoises, blending together in rippling waves. Instead of having dark brown eyes like most mice, hers are a deep, sea blue. Like Chisaki, they conceal emotion when the owner desires. The only other change in her appearance is that her tail is made out of water constantly spiraling at high speeds like a whirlpool. Despite the ferocity of the whirlpool-tail, if one were to stick his or her arm in it, nothing would happen.
Sealed Zanpakutou:
Basically, Mizunezumi is an average katana with the few personal changes here and there. The guard cloth is a mixture of blues and turquoise, matching her zanpakuto's water-based theme. Similar to it's released Shikai state, her sealed Zanpakuto has a sleek but short, navy blue ribbon coming out of the hilt very similar to Kuchiki Rukia's Sode no Shirayuki.
From a distance, the blade is just any normal katana blade, although it may appear one or two inches longer than average (this is not yet confirmed). Upon closer inspection, one can see that the blade reflects light in an almost displaced, wavy fashion, very similar to water ripples. Once again, this broadens the idea of her aquatic Zanpakuto.
Her Zanpakuto is very balanced and extremely light, due to the fact that Chisaki is admittedly not the strongest character. It's relatively easy and simple to use, although if someone other than Chisaki tries to unsheath it, Mizunezumi may resist if she sees that the new wielder intends to do the original owner harm. Usually, her Zanpakuto's spirit is open-minded and accepting of others, but she tends to be slightly prejudiced when allowing others to wield her.
Also, unlike other Shinigami, she wears it across her lower back, tucked firmly in the tan sash wrapped around her waist very similar to Matsumoto Rangiku. When unsheathing it, she holds it like a dagger before switching to a sword position when it gets serious.
Shikai Release Phrase: “Jiten, Mizunezumi!" [literally “Spin, Water Mouse!”]
Shikai Description:
Shikai Appearance: Upon the activation phrase, Mizunezumi transforms from her usual katana-self into Sai, two pitch-fork-like weapons originally from China. The guards for the handles are a plain, navy blue while the blades themselves have strange, ancient carvings embossed into them. Hanging down from the hilts are blue ribbons. Once Chisaki stabs her opponent with one of the Sai, the other will immediately lengthen until it becomes the size of a sword. If the Sai was thrust into any part of the opponent body (usually she aims for his or her stomach), it’s impossible to pull it back out because of suction. One of the major weaknesses of using the Sai is that the shaft of the weapon isn’t bladed, making it easy for her opponent to attack her forearm.
Shikai Attacks: Mizunezumi is very similar to Hinamori Momo’s shikai. Chisaki can solidify any amount of her reiatsu into rays of bright white light and can fire it off at will from the blades of her Sai. Although this uses a small amount of her spiritual energy, it is very inaccurate but powerful if hit by. These attacks are also deflected easily by more powerful opponents, but if her enemy is weaker than her, these will explode, causing horrific amounts of damage if attempted to be deflected.
The second property of her Shikai is that it increases her speed. Chisaki becomes twice as fast as normal, but if this ability is used for too long a period of time, her reiatsu will drain until it runs out. Thus, she can only use this for indefinite bursts of speed instead of constantly. Most of the time, Chisaki will only use this for her first hit - a stab to the back with one of her Sai. After that, all she just needs one more hit from her zanpakuto to end the battle.
“Mae no sono nami." Finally, the only word-activated ability of her zanpakuto is ‘Dance of the Waves' Picture this as Rukia Kuchiki’s first dance. A spiraling whirlpool shoots up from a circle around her opponent, trapping him or her in a cyclone of water. Once her enemy is trapped inside the twister, Chisaki uses her reiatsu to fill it with water, thus suffocating her opponent. Like all of her other techniques, this attack can be broken by a more powerful enemy.

*~!~*History*~!~*
--->Years in Rukongai<---
As mentioned before, Chisaki is half Chinese half Japanese, although she uses both languages quite fluently. She was born in Soul Society, thus the high age for someone who appears so young.
Her memories of her parents and family are clouded and very indistinct due to a severe head injury. Although her childhood years are still hazy, when she was young, she ran away from her parents in search of adventure (Chisaki has no recollection of any siblings). After a few days of wandering around Rukongai, Chisaki met up with another girl around the same age named Koto (literally “Harp?. The two joined up and helped each other survive. Koto was probably the first best friend that Chisaki ever had.
While wandering through the streets of one of the districts, the pair ran across a shinigami who had taken a short vacation from his post in Seireitei to visit his relatives. The two were so impressed that they swore to one day become a shinigami. Although the price to enter the Shinigami Institute was unbelievably high, somehow they came up with a way to raise enough money for only one of them to enter. Despite Chisaki’s protests, Koto refused to enter before she did. Thus, after much persuasion and at least a week’s worth of heartfelt goodbyes, Chisaki entered the academy.
--->Academy Years<---
She was alone at first ?scared, timid, meek. Unsure of her actions without Koto beside her, Chisaki’s grades were just a fraction above passing. However, once she met Mami (literally “Pearl?, Chisaki immediately started improving. Mami reminded her so much of Koto, that she had to keep herself from accidentally switching their names.
While in the academy, she was just below average on swordsmanship, but excelled at Kidou. However, it was obvious that she preferred a katana over spoken spells through practices with her classmates. Thus, it took her a few months longer to graduate than those in her year.
For the final test ?a mission in the real world with a mentor, her group was required to defeat a new batch of hollows that had suddenly appeared in Karakura Town. Because Mami had already graduated long before her, Chisaki was put in a group with a girl named Sugi (literally “Cedar? and a boy named Shirou (literally “White?and no, it’s not Toushiro).
The trio defeated the first few hollows relatively easily, but on the fourth, a giant, lizard-shaped Hollow, they had some difficulty. Most of the problem was that Sugi and Shirou had disappeared and Chisaki was unsure of her directions. After being attacked out of nowhere, she attempted to defeat the Hollow but was hesitant. Her confusion gave the monster enough time to knock her aside, severely injuring her head.
She woke up in the Seireitei 4th Division sector, completely healed but at a loss for her personal memory. Although she remembers everything taught to her in the Institute, her recollections of family, adventures, and even Koto had disappeared. She was basically a walking shinigami machine. A few days after she woke up, they allowed her to graduate and sent her to the 9th division. From there, she has been training to reach a higher position. When she developed bipolar disorder, paranoia, and anorexia is lost somewhere in her history.

RP Sample: Setting - Final Test at the Shinigami Institute The radiant sun burned the back of her neck. Why did the final test have to be today of all days? It was in the dead-heat of summer, and Chisaki was sure that none of her classmates were particularly pleased about having to defeat a bunch of Hollows in the still-rising temperatures.
Shifting her weight from leg to leg, she watched the instructor attentively as he explained the final mission. Although she was literally ready to burst open in excitement, Chisaki kept her tongue and remembered that this was not a play-date. All these trainees around me?We all want the same thing. We’ve trained hard for this, and now this is the only barrier between us and becoming official Shinigami, she mused to herself, breaking away from the pep talk for a few seconds to observe those around her. Most of her classmates had grim, determined looks plastered on their faces, but some (mostly boys) had a nonchalant, lopsided grin hanging off of them. Chisaki frowned. There were obviously some who wouldn’t take this mission seriously, and she could already pick out who would have the worst injuries.
“—and make if any of you are having difficulty, feel free to signal me through your communicator for help." Chisaki suppressed a scoff. She seriously doubted anyone here would signal the instructor for help. After all, they were here to impress and succeed. Who wanted to show weakness in their most important task?
“Now, I want you all to pick a color out of this box. It will separate you into three groups," the instructor grinded out monotonously, and the students obediently moved forward as one to receive their color.
When it was her turn to pick, she felt her fingers brush the small strips of paper and with a bored expression, pulled one out. She moved back to allow others room to pick their own colors, and examined her own. It was red. Sneaking a glance at her neighbor’s color, she saw yellow in the hands of a tall, blonde female and a small purple line held by a muscular, lean redhead boy. She unconsciously twirled the paper around her forefinger with her other hand hanging loosely off the hilt of her zanpakuto. This was certainly going to be interesting.
Once the crowd of students had retreated from the box, the instructor cleared his throat to silence the sudden buzz of excitement. “Find someone with a color different than yours. The combinations should be one red, one yellow, and one purple in a group. Make your choices carefully, for the people you pick will be the classmates accompanying you on the mission." Chisaki sighed. There was so much preparation for one simple task. In the corner of her ashen-hued eyes, she could see students trading their colors so they could be with their friends. Typical, she thought with yet another exasperated sigh.
“OI. You’re coming with us." She tried to twist out of the strong hand that had landed on her slim forearm but was unsuccessful. Turning her head, Chisaki saw the fiery eyes of the redhead boy she had seen earlier and narrowed her own before shaking off his grip.
“Don’t surprise me like that. You could’ve just asked," she murmured sulkily, slightly irritated by his straightforwardness.
Ringing laughter like the sweet sound of a chiming bell reached her ears, and Chisaki swiveled around to see the blonde playfully reprimanding the redhead. “Hai, she’s right y’know. Ano... but I’m not taking sides or anything," the blonde laughed. Chisaki could tell that she had a cheerful, talkative personality at first sight, and relaxed. At least there was someone she could depend on should the moment arise.
The boy looked away with narrowed eyes. “Sugi-chan, you’ve really got to stop fooling around. This is serious now. You either pass or you don’t, kay?" Guessing the blonde was Sugi-chan, the taller female winked playfully at him, elbowing him teasingly in the side. “Shirou-kun, you’re being a killjoy." Turning her bright, blue eyes to Chisaki, she reached out a hand to the older girl. “I’m Sugi Adachi, and this is my friend, Shirou Okinawa." Chisaki shook her hand warmly and smiled invitingly.
“Chisaki Mie. Nice to meet you guys," she responded with the same, friendly tone.
Shirou-kun’s cheeks reddened slightly. “Hai, same to you." Their gazes connected for a split second before Chisaki turned away, surprised to find that she had been holding her breath.
In the real world… (I didn’t feel like writing out a pep speech; >_>)
“GRAWWWW!" Chisaki winced, covered her ears with zanpakuto in hand. Hollows were awfully noisy for being such dark, powerful beings. However, before the creature had a chance to shriek yet another earsplitting cry, there was a flash of red and the beast disintegrated. Smiling, Chisaki gave Shirou-kun a thumbs-up before nodding to Sugi-chan. “Come on, I can feel another one up ahead." They were in a broad, rural section of Karakura Town. Here, no damage would come to humans should their fight go badly. The ground was typical farm soil - firm in the unplowed parts, but frustratingly soft where crops had been planted. With the season being summer, much of the field had seeds already planted in it, making their job that much harder.
“NYAAA—”
“SHUT UP!" The Hollow’s screech was cut short by her harsh voice as she leapt off of the ground, using Shunpo to push off with more power. With her zanpakuto back by her hip, she soared towards the monster and with all of her might, swung upwards. The powerful hit sliced the reptile’s mask in half. Chisaki had to push off of the broken mask in order to avoid being sprayed by the crimson droplets. After giving one last death cry, the Hollow vanished, leaving a purified soul to float up to the heavens.
Satisfied, she wiped her zanpakuto on a patch of nearby grass, sheathed it, and turned to face her companions. Surprise was written on her features when she found that Sugi-chan and Shirou-kun were nowhere to be found. “Ano... HALLO?" she called out into the emptiness, squinting due to the fiery brightness of the setting sun.
Silence answered her question.
Utterly confused, Chisaki pulled out her communicator and pushed the transmit button down. “Hallo" Chisaki Mie from Group 5 reporting in. I have just lost the reiatsu of Sugi Adachi and Shirou Okinawa. Should I search for them or return to the meeting spot?"She released the pressure on the button and stood, waiting for a response.
Bzz... Buzz... BEEPBUZZBEEP. “Return to the meeting spot immediately. I’ll take care of finding them," a deep voice buzzed back through the communicator.
With a sigh, she focused her reiatsu around her feet and pushed off. Her unnaturally high ability with kidou had allowed her to learn Shunpo much earlier than her classmates, and Chisaki was pleased that she had done so. It was much easier to travel around than running from place to place and getting worn out before the battle even began.
“Nngh!" After a couple miles, Chisaki found herself buried in rubble and debris. She groaned and rose to her feet. What the hell had just happened?
“AYEEHHHH!" She froze. There was no mistaking it. That was a Hollow. Chisaki allowed a few more seconds time to pass for her eyes to adjust to the darkness. Apparently she was standing in the corner of an abandoned home, and when she turned her gaze to a huge hole in the wall, realized that she had been effortlessly knocked aside in the midst of her Shunpo.
Her hand instinctively darted towards the hilt of her zanpakuto when the shadowy foot of a Hollow appeared right outside the hole. The beast gave another shriek and a loud crunching noise came from above her, but with a quick glance, Chisaki saw that the ceiling was still perfect and intact. Was the Hollow clawing at the second floor? Her thoughts were cut short as the wall to her right collapsed, and she narrowly escaped being buried in debris for a second time.
The satisfactory sound of her zanpakuto slicing through a thick object reached her ears. She had darted through the hole without hesitation, severing the Hollow’s foot. The beast screamed in pain, pounding nearby building with its huge fists. Now what? Chisaki could easily escape, but it was a Hollow, after all. The instructor had told her to return to the meeting spot immediately. Well it couldn’t hurt just to take care of this one monster? Unfortunately, her hesitation was all the Hollow needed. With a roar, the beast swung his arm, sending Chisaki flying through the wall of a nearby building. There was a sharp, stabbing pain in the back of her head, and she was conscious just long enough to see a redhead floating in her blurry vision before blacking out.
*****
“Chisaki! Chisaki-chan wake up!"
I’m tired, go away.
“WAKE UP!"
I said I’m tired! Give me a break!
Something hard prodded her in the shoulder, and her eyes snapped open. She was greeted by the worried faces of a blonde, redhead, and a black-haired girl.
“Chisaki-chan? Are you alright?"
She stared at them dumbly for a few seconds. “Who’s Chisaki-chan?" She attempted to scratch her head with her right arm but found that it was in a brace.
The pretty blonde frowned concernedly. “Does she have amnesia? You’re Chisaki-chan. Don’t you remember me? Sugi Adachi? Remember Shirou Okinawa?" She decided that this so-called Sugi had a nice voice and had a friendly demeanor.
“Ano? I don’t know what you’re talking about. Where am I? What happened? Why the hell does my head hurt so bad?" Her confused questions poured out of her, but she stopped when her optics caught the sight of the red-haired boy sitting dejectedly on the side of her bed. “Hey, are you okay?"
Shirou didn’t even turn to look at her. “Wow, she’s really forgotten. You’re in the 4th sector of Seireitei because you were severely injured by a Hollow. Ring a bell?" The black-haired girl sniffed beside him, and Chisaki could tell she was obviously holding back tears.
“I’m Koto, don’t you remember me? PLEASE, CHISAKI-CHAN!"
“… I-I’m sorry, but I don’t know who this Chisaki-chan is. I think you have the wrong person. Please, just leave me alone. I don’t want to disappoint you guys."
[Like, half of my punctuation got messed up when it carried over. If there's a "?" in the wrong place, chances are it's supposed to be quotation marks.]
